2. Selection criteria 

Tableware always printed on the "13-0", "18-0", "18-8" three codes are made of stainless steel tableware, the number in front of the code indicates the amount of chromium, the number behind represents the nickel content, chromium is the material that makes the product not rust, and nickel is a corrosion-resistant material. For example, "13-0" contains 13% of chromium and does not contain nickel. Special attention should be paid to the following when purchasing: 


  •  When purchasing stainless steel products, you should carefully check whether the material and steel number used are marked on the outer packaging; Whether to indicate the manufacturer's name, factory address, telephone, container hygiene standards and other words.

  • You can judge it with a magnet. Regular manufacturers will generally use 304 ( 18-8) and 430 (18-0) stainless steel as fork spoons, 420 (that is, 13-0) as knives, 430 and 420 with magnetism, 304 is micromagnetic. 

  •  In general, stainless steel tableware with the same thickness and shape, high-grade tableware will weigh more than low-grade tableware. However, the density difference is very small, 304 stainless steel is 7.93, and the density of 430 and 420 is 7.85, which is intuitively impossible to judge.

  •  The stainless steel used for the production of tableware mainly includes "austenitic" stainless steel and "martensitic" stainless steel. Bowls, plates, etc. are generally produced by "austenitic" stainless steel, "austenitic" stainless steel has no magnetism; knives, forks, etc. are generally produced by "martensitic" stainless steel, and "martensite" stainless steel is magnetic. 

  • Due to the different materials, the weight of qualified stainless steel tableware is greater than that of "parallel goods" products.
